The United States Department of Agriculture and the Farm Service Agency will help those recovering from natural disasters.

ARIZONA, United States – Farmers in Maricopa County may be eligible for help after storms ravaged the valley in August, causing flooding and wind damage.

The Farm Service Agency of the United States Department of Agriculture provides emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters through emergency loans after USDA designated the county as a natural disaster area.

FSA’s emergency loan program helps eligible farmers and ranchers rebuild and recover from losses suffered, according to the USDA website.

Emergency loans can be used to replace essential items such as equipment, livestock, reorganizing farm operations or refinancing certain debts, according to the USDA.

Also eligible contiguous counties are Gila, La Paz, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma. Applications must be submitted before May 13, 2022.

The loans will be reviewed by the FSA based on the extent of losses, available security and repayment capacity, according to the agency.

Details:

  • Affected area: Arizona
  • Triggering of a disaster: Rain, flash floods and winds occurred from August 1 to August 13, 2021.
  • Registration deadline: May 13, 2022
  • Main eligible county: Maricopa
  • Contiguous counties also eligible: Gila, La Paz, Pima, Pinal, Yavapai and Yuma
