The 45 MW Xesteirón wind farm, promoted by the renewable energy company Greenalia, begins the public exhibition phase after publication in the Official Journal of Galicia (DOG) with the environmental impact study. The installation planned almost entirely in the municipality of Chandrexa de Queixa in Ourense will also require a small space for the connection of wind turbines in the municipality of Montederramo.

For its commissioning, the construction of 10 wind turbines is planned, with a hub height of 120 meters and a rotor diameter of 160. With 45 MW of capacity, it is estimated that it will have an energy production of 130,000 MWh / year, which means energy consumption, from renewable energies, of more than 32,000 families.

The company believes a investment of more than 34 million euros to which is added the contribution to the municipalities for costs and taxes which will be approximately two million euros, to which is added the payment to the owners of the land as rent during the useful life of the park.

For the projection of the park, the enclaves included in the Galician network of protected areas, wetlands of international importance (Ramsar), the Natura 2000 network, natural areas of local interest and private areas of natural interest have been excluded.

Likewise, the infrastructures are located outside the ZEC zone (Special Conservation Zones), where ZPS (Special Bird Protection Zones) are connected, as well as ZICOs (Important Bird Areas). Likewise, the proposed proposal does not affect the priority areas for breeding, feeding, dispersal and local concentration of birds, so it should be compatible with the avifauna of the area.

From an environmental and landscape point of view, the reports conclude that this is a development with low impact and fully compatible with the environment. Likewise, as stated in the document, general accesses to the wind farm will be made from the existing road infrastructure in the region, so that the potential impact of secondary elements of the park is minimized.

During previous works and reports, the Os Chaos de San Fiz petroglyph has been located, so that all the infrastructure of the wind farm has been moved outside its protection perimeter in order to ensure that it is not assigned to this heritage asset. .
